Well ladies! I had a great time at Shecky’s last Thursday night but as usual, I have a great story. So, the event was from 5pm – 10pm. Of course, I still work on pacific standard time so I don’t get off until 7 and I live about 30 minutes outside of the city. At 7pm on the dot I log off my computer, grab my purse and keys, and head on down to the Biltmore Hotel for some fun and shopping! I browse a few booths before I find my first must have, a Lia Molly navy blue knit pencil skirt. I reach in my purse to grab my debit card only to discover it’s not there! AHHHHHHH! I realize that I gave it to Fabrice earlier that day and I forgot to get it before I left. Ummm, talk about an EPIC FAIL! It’s already 8 o’clock and driving back home is out of the question. Oh well, I guess I’ll just do some window shopping, take pictures for the blog, and enjoy the free cocktails. Well, not quite. I broke down and used my credit card to buy the knit skirt, which was marked down to $25… I couldn’t help it. Lia Molly is based in New Orleans and they don’t have an online shop. The shop owner gave me her email address and offered to ship the skirt to me, but I decided to go ahead and break my “shop with cash only” rule and get the skirt! I don’t regret it by the way, but I did go online and pay the skirt off right away.
Anyway, Lia Molly has some beautiful pieces! It would definitely be one of my go to spots if I live din New Orleans. It’s all knitwear and all fabulous! Their collection includes tons of unique cardigans and gorgeous sweater dresses. I would definitely recommend checking out their Fall/Winter 2010 Look Book. Of all the vendors at the event, the Lia Molly booth was my favorite. They had the most unique and special merchandise by far! The rest of the booths had a ton of trendy stuff that I felt could be found elsewhere in the same price range. So on that note, I didn’t feel too bad that I didn’t have my debit card. It wasn’t like I was going to miss out on a super great bargain on a once in a lifetime fab find…except of course the Lily Molly skirt!
Now, while I wasn’t totally blown away by the clothing & accessories vendors, the makeup vendors were an entirely different story! They had GREAT prices on cosmetics. I’m talking $3 – $10! That might have been an area where I would have done a little damage if I’d had my debit card. They also had the Maybelline Color Studio Makeover booth, which was totally booked by the time I bought my tickets but it looked like loads of fun! Next year, I’ll have to get on the ball earlier!
…and of course no fashion event is complete without GIRLY COCKTAILS! The complimentary libations at Shecky’s came courtesy of Anheuser Busch, Midori, and X-rated!
One of the highlights of the evening was a fun Beer Pairings Experience put on by Anheuser-Busch. I am more of a wine girl myself, but lately Fabrice has me experimenting with beers, so this was pretty fun!
|Michelob Ultra Pomegranate Raspberry + Raspberries | Bud Light Lime + Key Lime Cheesecake | Barcardi Silver Sangria + Triscuits & Pepper Jack Cheese | Bud Light Chelada + Tortilla Chips & Salsa|
I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the Bud Light Chelada. I am not a fan of Bloody Mary’s but if I was, I imagine I’d love the Chelada too. It’s just a pre-made mix of Bud Light & Clamato. It had a sort of soupy flavor to be honest…maybe like a seafood gazpacho. It did pair back to the chips & salsa quite well.
Well, this is how I ended my Shecky’s Girls Night Out! It was a great time and well worth the $25 admission. Oh, and of course, there is the GOODY BAG!!! full of all kinds fun products! Of all the goodies, I am most excited about the Febreeze Scented Shades and Reed Diffuser! Woohoo!
Here are a few more outfit pics that I took earlier in the day. You’ll notice I swapped out my Forever 21 Mary Janes for flat riding boots. I figured I’d want to be comfortable, and I’m glad I went that route!
