Perky Purple

Sorry in advance if the title of this post was a little misleading. For all you nail polish fanatics out there, you may recognize “Perky Purple” as the name of a fabulous Essie nail polish. My good friend (and former blog photographer) used to wear this color all the time and I am obsessed with it. It is so pretty.. and also very hard to find…ANYWHERE! ugh! Well, the color of these tights totally reminds me of that nail polish. I just love them! Now, I have to be honest and say that I have been down right wimpy about trying brightly colored tights. I just couldn’t wrap my head around how to style them, but every time I saw other people wearing them I just knew I had to give them a try. I have to thank DWJ at The Art of Accessories for finally giving me the push I needed with this post. (Shout out to Kendra of Closet Confections, too. She is notorious for wild ‘n crazy tights! Oh, and I can’t forget my girl Courtnee, over at Moments of Whimsy. She rocks a mean red leg. Lol!).
30 for 30 item #13: Kasper Black Blazer (thrifted)
30 for 30 item #9: Denim Shirt
30 for 30 item #23: Levi’s “Hi-Rise Skinny”
30 for 30 item #28: Luichiny “Legacy” Back Pumps (courtesy of Shoes Got Sole, $79.95)
Xhileration Tights (Target, $5)
“Turquoise & Chains” Necklace (Forever 21, $8.80)
Assorted Bangles (Forever 21, $7.80/ H&M, $3.95)
Earrings & Goody Headband (Target)
Xhileration Clutch/Wallet (Target, $3.74)
Covergirl “Fabulous Fuschia” Lipstick (Walgreens, $1.50 on clearance)
I noticed so many of the 30 for 30 crew rocking bright tights (A Reason to be Fabulous, A Day in the Life Too, Second Star, Miss Vinyl Ahoy. After all, they are a no-brainer for adding a little pizazz to any outfit. When you’re wearing the same 30 items for 30 days, pizazz is important! Okay, so let’s be honest! I am definitely taking baby steps into realm of bright tights. I wore mine kinda like socks instead of tights but it totally works, right?!
I am also going to be submitting this look to the Everybody Everywear link party! This week we are linking up our fave “Classic Blazer” posts. Got a classic blazer you want to share? Link up here! Be sure to also check out the History of the Blazer when you submit your looks! Anyway, I scored this lovely Kasper blazer at The Goodwill for 9.99. When I go thrifting (sadly, its been a while) I am always on the look out for good blazers and Kasper is one of my go-to brands. Kasper is just one of those brands that epitomizes classic, which also means it almost never goes out of style. Notice, I said almost! LOL. Occasionally, you might run into a silhouette or colorway that is just dated, but for the most part you can count on Kasper to be timeless. If you stumble across a classic single button blazer like this in any color, SNATCH IT UP! It had a single gold button in the front and two smaller gold buttons on each cuff, which I removed. I may or may not replace them with new buttons. I kind of think it looks great without buttons, which brings me to my next point. When thrifting, always be on the lookout for things that you love, but aren’t quite right. Chances are whatever you don’t like about the garment can easily be fixed with a pair of scissors or a needle and thread. The one-of-a-kind result of any alterations you have to make will likely be worth it! If I were to buy a brand new classic black blazer of this quality, I’d definitely being paying updwards of a couple hundred dollars. For $10, I’m more than happy to snip a few buttons.
Oh, and how could I forget to tell you guys about this little clutch/wallet that I bought at Target for…waaait for it…$3.74. LOVE. IT. Can you believe that my phone actually fits in this thing? Now if I can just figure out how to fit my keys in there, we’d be set! It’s super cute, but not so functional as a full on purse…as if that matters to a fashionista! It’s perfect for those nights when you don’t need anything but a little money and your phone! Girls night out… date night… you know those nights when being cute supersedes function. Lol! I really love the black and silver peacock feather design. So pretty!
One more thing! A big shout out to Prissy of Rush Our Fashion for inspiring this look! I added my own special touch with accessories, but this is essentially a carbon copy of an outfit she posted last week. I loved the look instantly and thought it was perfect for those of you who are curious about the double denim trend, but aren’t quite sure how to pull it off. I warned her that I was going to steal it. Lol! Who knew it would be so soon. THANKS PRISSY!!!

I LOVE the purple tights with the double denim and the blazer!! LOVE the whole look and the pop of color the tights and your lipstick gives the whole outfit! Did I already say I love everything about this outfit??!!
My recent post Classic Blazer…
Hi Tiffany! Thank you for stopping by my blog and for your SWEET comment! I had a lot of fun with this look. Can you believe I almost didn't wear the tights?

hehe! YES!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE these shoes. I promise you won't be disappointed.
I have those same tights. I'm wearing the green ones from Target in my recent post. Love the pop of purple. You make the denim on denim trend look great.
Oh, I think I have the green ones too. I can't get enough of these tights at $5 a piece!
I love the purple! I know FingerPaints used to (or still may) make a color that's pretty similar. I forget the name though! I love wearing socks with heels, I think it's so cute!
Thank you!!! socks and heels are definitely here to stay in my book, it is so cute and practical in this in between weather!
I absolutely love this look! I’m a big fan of tights but haven’t attempted any bright colors. I picked up my first red pair a few weeks ago at Target but have yet tower them. This look gives me life..strategizing
hehe! Glad to inspire Kerissa! I can't wait to see how you wear your red tights!
Great look!!! I'm a huge fan of tights and I LOVE the colored tights with this outfit, it just completes the look!! HAUTE HAUTE HAUTE!!! I can not believe I don't have a denim shirt! Arrggghh, I am DEF on the look out for one and need one in my life ASAP! AND I have been holding out too long, I am buying those shoes TODAY!!!! LOL! I just Love Love Love the red heart on the bottom, just FAB! And don't you just love thrifting.. Sometime I am so amazed at all the great things I find at great prices too!
My recent post the classic blazer
heck yeah! We need to schedule a thrifting date.
…and I also can't believe you don't have a denim shirt! GIIIIRL! put that at the top of your wish list! (try H&M)
I like the pop of purple you have going on. It makes a great statement with your outfit being grounded by basic pieces.
The brightest I've gone is fuschia tights. I'm not totally afraid, but haven't branched out to really funky colors. I get tripped up by what shoes to wear with them.
My recent post Birthday Wishes
I totally understand what you mean about the shoes. I see people rocking bright shoes + bright tights and it looks so cute, but I just feel like I am trying too hard when I attempt it. Oh well, baby steps! I will be bright tights pro in no time. Lol!
That blazer was a great find! And yeah, for 10 bucks, it is worth all the snipping in the world!
I am trying to tip toe into the world of colored tights, too. Maybe I should try doing it like you are doing it. That might make it easier to ease in!
The Auspicious Life
yes, ma'am! I definitely recommend easing on in. You get a lot of impact with just a peek of bright color! I think it would also work really well with a strappy sandal!
I love how you paired this denim look with colored tights!!! Too FAB!! I am also torn about the colored tights..even though I own about 8 pairs. They are still in the wrapper because I'm too "afraid" of them. Maybe I could start off not so "out there" like you did!! Thanks for the shout out!!

My recent post Houndstooth Blazer
Prissy, you betta stop it! You have such a bold personal style. I know YOU can make colored tights work. I'll be waiting
I love the purple tights. Just enough for a pop of color. The whole outfit looks great. I'm especially loving those jeans.
My recent post 6 of 30 or Blazin
Thanks, Kara! I have had these jeans for a couple years now and they really are the PERFECT fit. You know how they say a good pair of Levi's will conform to your body? I swear that is what these jeans have done. Lol. The only thing that could make these jeans better would be a button fly! LOL
Well I am happy to inspire you
I'm actually wearing bright teal tights today (with a grey pencil skirt and grey leopard print heels). I'm actually surprised that you're afraid of wearing colorful tights! You're bold and fabulous! You can do it!!
hehe! thanks for the encouragement. I am getting there. By the end of the 30 for 30 challenge, I am sure you all will see me sporting full on tights…with shorts or a skirt (watch out now!) Lol
Thanks so much for the shoutout, I was totally surprised to see it! I love how you styled your tights and I think it's a great way to venture into colorful-tight-land. I never thought to have my tights peek out under my jeans, I might have to try it! You look fabulous.
My recent post I kind of look like my grampa today
My pleasure Kellie! I am having so much fun getting to know new bloggers through the 30 for 30 challenge. I was very happy to stumble across your blog. I hope you do try out the tights/jeans combo. It was really fun!
thats a great steal from the goodwill! I love purple socks too its adds another pop of color to the outfit. Super cute =)
YOU are such a babe! LOVE the classic blazer with the crazy purple, so fresh and modern. And that blazer is like an unsung hero, it saves the day, but we forget to thank it. So lovely, tonight: be sure to thank your blazer.
My recent post outfit post- Red Plaid Blazer
haha! Thanks, Bella! Consider my Blazer thanked!
Those tights take this outfit from hot to HOT DAMN! I love it! I haven't tried the denim on denim look yet, but only because I can't find the right chambray shirt. This outfit has given me tons of inspiration though, so don't be surprised if I sorta steal it/style chain it

I LOVE colorful tights. My high school students make fun of me all the time and say my legs look like the Wicked Witch of the West. I tell them if I wore too tight clothes, was a carbon copy of everyone else, or wore my pants off of my butt I would be them. LOL. Great job w/ my fave color

hahaha! Thanks!!!
You know it took me a while to find the right chambray shirt, too. Actually I haven't found it yet (and I have TWO). I would like one that is a little more distressed and washed out. The hardest part is finding one with a shape. I find a lot of options that are too boxy. Let me know if you find a good one!
haha! I'm rockin
…I am so glad the new layout is working out better for everyone. I am very pleased with it myself!
