Little Dress on the Prairie
Hi everybody! First of all, I want to say THANK YOU to all those who entered my 1-year Blogiversary giveaway and for all your kind comments! I can’t wait to pick a winner!! If you haven’t entered yet, you have until June 3rd!
I hope everyone had a great weekend! My weekend was nice. I was able to meet up with my buddy Tasha of Imperfect Concepts Boutique for brunch. Miss Tasha has recently made the move from Dallas to Atlanta. Yippee! I am sure we’ll be hanging out a lot! Oh, and speaking of Imperfect Concepts, Tasha’s got a 50% – 70% off sale going on so be sure to head on over there and check it out!
Anyway, I got all dolled up for brunch at Crepe Revolution in Smyrna and I figured I’d take advantage of the opportunity to take pictures in a new setting. Syke! Of course, I left my camera at home. Go figure! But, I managed to convince Fabrice to accompany me to the park for a back up locale. I had to bribe him with a 3 piece meal from Popeye’s. Lol! Whatever works… He is such a homebody, but it was a gorgeous day in Atlanta! I just wanted to get him out of the house.
LC Lauren Conrad Tiered Floral Maxi (Kohl’s) | Mom’s Belt | Jessica Simpson Dany Platforms | Poppie Jones Fringe Bag (DSW) | Arden B. Necklace | Versace Sunnies
Those of you who follow me on Twitter may recall me tweeting about this dress. I bought it online and I received it a couple weeks ago. I really loved the look of the dress… the tiered skirt, the ruffle sleeve, the tiny floral print… it’s very “pretty.” When I received the dress, I immediately thought to myself, “Eboni, I don’t know about this one…” It felt a kinda little house on the prairie for my taste. Okay, so maybe I’d be the stylish hussy down the prairie road with my arms, shoulders, and back all out but you guys get what I mean. Still, I couldn’t bring myself to return it. I liked it. I was determined to make it work. Well, it was pretty hot in Atlanta today and I wanted to wear something light and airy. This little number was calling my name. I thought pairing it with a masculine, worn-in leather belt in cognac would take away from the pretty-ness of the dress just a bit. Throw in a pair of edgy platform sandals like my JS Dany’s and a fringe bag…we’re in business! The dress was still pretty, but it felt a little more like me.
When Fab and I got home from the park, we decided to go sit outside on the patio and enjoy the sunshine and warm weather just a little bit more… Fab with his kindle and me with my magazines…both of us with our favorite ginger ale — Buffalo Rock! Have you tried it? It is so spicy, it literally makes me sneeze if I try to take a sip before the foam dies down. It’s DEEELISH!
…and of course I can’t leave you without Fab’s fashion insights of the day. I walked in the bedroom all dressed up for brunch and he says “look at you in your double dress, and belly belt.” LMAO my what? and what? LOL! He said, “That’s like two dresses in one and if the belt covers your belly button, it’s a belly belt… but I like it, you look very pretty.” Well, thank you. Lol.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress!!! You look Gorgeous hon'!

If you are a prairie, I want to be a wildflower. You are so amazingly refreshingly beautiful, and I love the softness of the dress with your edgy elements- the boss platforms (in the perfect carmel leather color of course) and the belt. Ah, you make me wanna maxi. PS: hubby is a fox. Tell him I said so.

A maxi dress..I'm sold
If I see those Dany heels on another blogpost I'm heading straight to Macy's (breathes deep and attempts self control). I've been holding back and holding back but ummmm it makes the maxi work well. Your hair is gorgeous! Fab is too funny a double dress & belly belt. Give him a cupcake and he'll be fine (wink), lol.

Thanks for the style inspiration(as always!)
Lovin this dress! It funny, all the parts that you think make it look too "pretty" or "little house on the prairie" are what I love about it. The tiered layers and of the shoulders are sooo adorable. You look amazing in it, I think you belt shoes and bag work perfectly together. And those shoes I could have sworn they were Jeffery Campbell's but guess I was wrong wrong worng lol. Still they are fab!
