Jeans Make a Comeback…

…to my wardrobe that is! It seems that I have totally forgotten about my old BFF — the denim pant.  I suppose this is largely due to the HOT weather here in Atlanta, but I haven’t worn a pair of jeans since May 11th.  In this heat and humidity, lightweight breezy fabrics are a lifesaver.  I am sure this is gonna be TMI, but you guys I AM A SWEAT FACTORY.  LOL!!! Fabrice always laughs at me because I get so sweaty so fast.  I generally break out sweating on the walk from the door to the car. SMH.  I think I mentioned it before, but I am just a hot body. LOL! Usually when everyone else is cold, I am pleasantly warm.  When everyone else is pleasantly warm, I am beginning to sweat… when everyone is is hot, I feel like I am about to burst into flames any second. LOL!!!! Anyway, perhaps because I am longing for Fall… I have also been longing to revisit my collection of jeans.  If my legs happen to spontaneously combust, I will have no one to blame but myself. :)

GAP Blouse | Old Jeans | Curly in the City Bag | Minx Me “Etsa” Pumps | Versace Sunnies | Forever 21 and H&M Bracelets

Alright, so can I ask you guys a question. If you are married or in a relationship, how does your husband/significant other feel about sheer and lace blouses?  Fab doesn’t make a big deal out of it, but he doesn’t particular care for them without a tank or cami underneath. Of course, I prefer to wear them with just a bra for an understated sexy look.  He’s finally resolved to just let me be, but it’s not his favorite look.  This particular blouse is sheer, but the dark blue color and the paneling in the front offer tons of coverage.  Again, not Fab’s favorite, but he gave me the side-eye and let it go. LOL! What would your significant other say?

By the way, let me warn you guys that this shirt will be making another appearance this week. I wore it twice in one week! LOL!( Don’t worry, I didn’t get it all sweaty.)  We’ll just pretend it was an intentional “one top, two ways” challenge. LOL!

So, you know Einstein’s definition of insanity — doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.  Well, clearly Einstein never met MY HAIR! In fact, I would be INSANE if I did the same thing over and over again expecting the SAME results with my hair.  I wish doing the same thing over and over again to my hair produced the same results. Life would sure be a lot easier.  I loved my hair here, so naturally I tried to replicate my exact steps to recreate the same look…as you can see, it just didn’t work out that way.  I should have known better.  This inconsistency is one of the reasons I was so addicted to flat ironing my hair in the first place. I always know what I’m gonna get.  With curly hair, it’s never the same…even if I do the same thing over and over again… so take that Einstein.  LOL!

It’s very slight, but did you notice that I tried to do a little turquoise and blue combo (a la Rachel Roy  Spring 2011 RTW), with my shoes and the zipper on my bag.  Little details like can totally take a simple outfit like this to the next level, don’t you think?

  3. This is such a chic casual look. I love it. I certainly understand the lack of wearing jeans during the summer in Atlanta. It's so much more comfy to throw on a summer dress. And about the sheer shirt…my ex-hubby would have said wear with a bra…

I love the sheer shirt look with the peek-a-boo bra. My husband would probably say, you KNOW your bra is showing right?! Super cute look and LOVING the bag, might have to put that on my to purchase list…

Love the color of your blouse and the fit of those jeans! However, the sheer blouse with no cami would be a no go with my bf.

In the spirit of TMI, I am a sweat factory too. I can only get dressed directly in front of the AC or I'll be a hot mess… literally!

Radiant! Simply radiant! Sweat or no sweat, girl you are rocking both the jeans and the sheer top. My bf likes the sheer tops. I wore one over the weekend and he was all giddy over it. I can't wear them to my office sans cami though. Boo! I love your pumps and clutch too!

You look adorable! That is too funny about Fab not liking the sheer tops, if I were a guy I guess I could understand. I don't have a boo so I will wear sheer, bra showing and all. But I would still wear it even if I had a boo, so I guess it doesn't matter.

OK, no shear shirt without a Cami, its the house rule. Although, he goes Comando on a regular basis, ewwww!!!!! TMI, sorry.

I guess since I don't have a significant other I can't really say how they would react. =/ I think the way you wore the shirt is not outlandish and vulgar. It is, like you said, very understated.

Hi I just found your blog (through some other wonderful blogs) and I have to say I love your style. I am by no means a fashionista, but I do love fashion and I try to be as fashionable (in my own way) as possible. Your site as well as some others I have found are really helping me not to be afraid to try the things I have seen and wanted to try. Plus, I'm founding out about alot of great places to shop for clothes that I knew had to be here in ATL but wasn't sure where to go!!

    Thank you!!

Love those jeans. My ex used to blow his top(no pun inteneded) about sheer shirts. I wore a teal sheer blouse with ruffles to an outdoor October wedding underneath a black suit and he told me I was inappropriate. Whatever. Loving those sunnies too :)

  27. Inez says:

I am always hot too. Now, imagine that in tropical weather! I've had people touch me on several occasions, furrow their brows and ask 'why are you hot?' or 'are you sick?' Funny thing I don't even know my temp is different. lol. Love the jeans. Your hair is beautiful. My bf also gives me the side eye when I wear sheer, lucky for him I don't always wear it.

This is completely unrelated to the outfit post, but kind’ve a random hair question. I was just wondering about the stretching the curl out photos. Are you trying to show off your length?

  30. […] The Fashionista Next Door posted this great outfit.  When I see great outfits, they’re usually of two varieties: “I would totally wear that.  It’s great!” or “I would never wear that.  But it’s great!”  I thought this outfit was securely in the former camp, but then I realized that all my jeans are dark denim.  I don’t even try on light-colored jeans.  I might have to change that… […]

Sometimes I contemplate if folks truly take time to write something original, or are they only just dishing out words to fill a site. This surely doesn’t fit that mold. Thank you for taking the time to write with awareness. At times I look at a page and question whether they even proofread it.Fantastic work with this article.
