Style Me Friday: J. Crew, Part II

Happy Friday!! I am SO excited about this weekend. Why, you ask? Because tomorrow Fab and I are heading to the Taste of Atlanta. Woohoo! I love food even more than I love fashion… if that is even fathomable. I am a self-proclaimed foodie. Love to read cookbooks, and I have a nice collection. I have like 8 recipe apps on my iPhone.  We don’t have cable, but I used to watch Food Network all day every day. It’s so weird because Fab doesn’t care about food at all.  He enjoys good food if it’s there, but he doesn’t go out of his way to find it. LOL! or get all excited about it, like I do.  He doesn’t really understand why people spend so much money going out to eat, either.  He feels like he’s throwing money down the drain because food is not an “investment” in his mind.  He is definitely an “eat to live” type of person, and I am more of a “live to eat” kinda girl. Anyway, tomorrow should be a good time!

I am a little late with my Style Me Friday post today, but not to worry…here it goes! This is the second look submitted by my friend Colleen from the J. Crew catalog.  It’s been a little chilly in Atlanta the last few days so I thought this layered look fit the bill.  Of course, I made some adjustments to suit my closet and lifestyle — I didn’t have a mustard turtleneck, so I wore this old pink one that I’ve had since 2006 (another testimony to investing in basics).  I swapped out skirt for jeans,  and I added a coat for extra warmth.

Old Tweed Coat (Similar Coat by BB Dakota, $90) | Old Turtleneck  Similar Turtlenecks at Target ($19.99) | Foreign Exchange Sheer Polka Dot Tee (Similar at Charlotte Russe, $19.99) | Old Jeans (Similar at Old Navy, $29 on sale & even cheaper in store!) | Nine West Bag | Vintage Belt via Lily Kai Vintage Boutique | Braided Crystal Collar Necklace c/o Mimi’s, the Look for Less

Isn’t this braided collar necklace gorgeous? It was a gift from my friends over at Mimi’s, and I’ve been holding onto for a couple weeks because I had my heart set on wearing with a collared shirt.  That whole statement necklace peeking out of a crisp collar is a big trend right now, and I kinda love it…especially when the necklace is all pretty and sparkly and the rest of the look is kinda preppy and relaxed.  I still plan on recreating this look sometime soon using my Mimi’s necklace, but I thought it looked great with the turtleneck I’m wearing here, too!

Mimi’s, the Look for Less Braided Crystal Collar, $42.00

No insights on personal style today.  I am just tired, and barely had the energy to get this post up…but, I wanted to take a quick moment to say thanks for all your feedback and comments on yesterday’s post.  It’s nice to know that I am not the only one who struggles with working from home.  To @GlintofLight_79, I love your suggestion of finding a shared workspace here in Atlanta.  Unfortunately, I need to be available by phone, and my calls have to be forwarded to my home phone. Boo hoo! Maybe one day, that will be an option for me.  I’d love to even go sit at a coffee shop or something, but the phone is an issue soooo until a better solution comes along…

Have a great weekend!!!! XOXO

Ok, I need that tweed coat!! Its so cute, reminds me of a cape (which is on my fall/winter wishlist). I am also jealous that every pair of flares you have fits you so perfectly (fit & length). Great recreation!!

  2. Gorgeous interpretation as usual Ife. I love the tweed jacket! I also indulge in a little Food Network from time to time. Unless I'm hungry. Then, it makes my PB&J look pretty lame.

This is a cool way to make a summer or light weight blouse last through the winter. Great job.

I love that shear polka dot tee… Very cute! Question for you: would you say that you liked polka dots or stripes better?

Oh great job with this look hunni! I love the polka dot blouse and paired with the pink, the print really pops! Lovely coat and bag as well. Now, about this "live to eat" thing. Clearly we're kindred spirits cause I'm such a foodie myself. I have to really suppress my inner big girl cuz she loooves to eat, lol. Hope you had fun at the Taste of Atlanta!
