Happy Wednesday, Lovelies! So, today is the first day of my self-imposed “Home Office Style” challenge (I just came up with that on the spot. LOL!) In case you missed my post a couple weeks ago, I am basically challenging myself to get up and get dressed as if I were actually going to the office everyday in November — even though I work right across the hall from my bedroom. After working from home for over a year, I want to BURN my lounge clothes. For me, this is not about what’s practical — it’s about what feels good. I won’t go into it all over again, but if you’re interested in reading my thoughts on the subject, check out the previous post here.
So, back to the challenge! This is the first outfit, which I truly just wore in the house! I actually chose this outfit because I intended to run to the tailor on my lunch break. That didn’t happen, so this outfit officially saw the driveway and nothing else. I will admit, I kinda felt silly but you know what… I also felt good! I like my state of mind when I’ve gotten dressed for the day. It does seem to put in you go-get-em kind of mood. Go figure!Black Rivet Faux Leather Jacket ($60) | Mossimo V-neck Sweater ($17.99) | Fifty-Fifty Skirt c/o Alternative Apparel | MRKT Galena Angle Boots circa 2010 (similar option by Nine West) | Braided Crystal Collar c/o Mimi’s, the Look for Less | Coach Bag circa 2007
Do you guys recognize this skirt? Remember a few weeks ago when I posted about the Alternative Apparel preview show I attended, and I mentioned that the folks at Alternative graciously offered to send me a skirt after I gushed about it all night? Well, this is the skirt! Can you guys see why I instantly fell in love with it? Straight knit skirts are just really flattering on my hip-less figure so I am always drawn to them, but this skirt is extra special because of the fun asymmetrical hem! I get the comfort and style of a maxi AND I still get to show off my shoes. Sounds like a win-win situation to me! I wish I had taken a picture of the fabric up-close. I’ll have to remember to do that next time, but if you look closely you can see the thin metallic stripes in this skirt. This skirt is from Alternative’s holiday collection, and I think that little shimmery detail totally makes this outfit appropriate for your more laid holiday affairs.
