DIY: Neon Necklace
Hi lovely people! Just a really quick post to share a DIY experiment I did last week. I LOVE seeing DIY projects on other blogs, but for some reason I just haven’t gotten into doing them myself. And, it’s not that I’m not crafty, because I totally am…or was…in my former life? LOL! The other day I realized that my sister-in-law didn’t know that I was pre-school teacher for three years (shout out to the Teddy Bear room!), and before that I was an after school program coordinator, and before that I was a summer camp counselor, and I even worked in a teen center at my local recreation center in high school. I’m pretty sure there isn’t a craft out there that I haven’t done (which my sis quickly realized when she was pinning cool craft ideas for our nephews on Pinterest).
Anyway, I don’t know why I don’t do more DIY projects…I guess I just have to wait for inspiration to strike….and it did, with this necklace. Neon necklaces are a huge trend right now…and the neon crystal necklace is particularly hot. I think every blogger I know is swooning over this gorgeous necklace from Ann Taylor…and in true blogger fashion, I’ve also seen a lot of DIY recreations, so I thought I’d give it a try myself.
What You’ll Need…
- Cheap crystal or rhinestone necklace
- Neon nail polish in the color of your choice. I used “Did It On ‘Em,” a neon greenish-yellow color from Nikki Minaj’s OPI collection
- Quick Dry Top Coat. I used Seche Vite. (optional)
- Q-tips and polish remover to do any minor clean up.
That’s it! I applied two coats of polish and a top coat, and I let it dry overnight. Easy as 1-2-3.
I loved the result, and I’d like to try it again on a necklace with bigger rhinestones. Check my girl Angela’s necklace. I love how big the stones are and the BRIGHT neon green nail polish she used!
What do you think? Is this a DIY you would try?

Cute and easy idea.

I love your necklace and how it turned out. That’s exactly the kind of necklace I was searching for and couldn’t find. I’m all for this trend and did necklace #2 in a yellow color similar to yours. I posted it on Instagram the other day.
