The minute images from the J. Crew Spring ’12 presentation were released my eyes spotted this blazer, and it was love at first sight.
I also knew immediately that I would not be able to afford it, even though the price was not released at that time (insert sad sigh here). Sure enough, the jacket hit the J. Crew website priced at a whopping $495. Yeah. Not gonna happen. So, began the hunt, and as luck would have it, I didn’t have to go very far. A quick search for “multicolor striped blazer” on ebay turned up a shockingly perfect look for less by Talbots… an orange and navy striped blazer. The stripes were vertical instead of horizontal, but I can work with that! Of course, the first one I found wasn’t in my size…but, I didn’t give up there! Now, I had a specific brand to search for…I was getting warmer! So, my next search was “Talbots striped blazer.” Still no luck in my size, so I tried “Talbots Navy Striped Blazer” and there it was…in my size…for $8.99! SOLD…to the lady in the satin bonnet (that is me right now. hehe!)
…so it arrived today, and I anxiously ripped open that little priority mail envelope to try it on. I didn’t own anything from Talbots, so I wasn’t sure about their sizing. Fortunately, the size 6 I bought was a PERFECT fit! Yay!!! And because me and the blogosphere have this crazy telepathic relationship, I logged on to Pinterest to find the ever-fabulous Bee serving up some major inspiration with the “real” jacket. More stripes and polka dots, anyone? (I love it when the stars align in the blogmos! hehe)
Needless to say, I am looking forward to wearing my new blazer soon…gotta make sure I get to wear it before it gets too hot here in Atlanta. This is just not a cute-blazer-in-the-summer kinda city! LOL.
p.s. The seller I bought my blazer from still has stock left in sizes 6, 6P, and 8P. Check them out here! I also saw a lot of other sellers with this jacket, but the price points were in the $20 – $40 range. (Still beats $495!)
