Style Me Friday: Inspired by DVF
Good morning, and HAPPY FRIDAY!!! I am still half sleep right now, and my brain is not quite working yet…and I gorged myself with nachos last night… I think I am suffering from a guacamole hangover…or a really bad, extended case of the ‘itis. #TGIF

I mentioned on Twitter that I was not sold on the pastels trend. Pastel color palettes are just not appealing to me. I like the bold and the bright. I do think pastels are lovely on others…just not me. They are particularly striking on dark complexions. And that is not to say that I don’t enjoy “light” colors, but I think pastels are different for some reason?? Still, when I saw this mint blouse in H&M’s Conscious Collection, I couldn’t resist. I actually like the look of mint and black. (Not that you can even tell that it’s mint in these pictures…the blouse is definitely more of a mint blueish-green, but there is no green in these pics at all. I really need to take some photography lessons…quick! I hate it when my pictures don’t capture the true color of what I’m wearing. I have not yet learned the the mysteries of proper light.)
H&M Blouse (similar, sheer & suuuper cute) | H&M Skirt (last year, almost identical) | SUPER Old Mossimo Cardi (new & improved version) | Old Navy Cap-toe Ballet Flats ($16 in store, SUPER cute orange color available online) | Jewelry & Watch via AmericasMart | Bag c/o Jennifer Lovena

Thank you so much to Sassy for submitting this look waaaaaay back in September when DVF’s Spring 12 collection first hit the runway. Never…and I mean never…in a million years, would I have come up with this on my own. These two colors are a very unlikely pairing for me. Even as I contemplated DVF’s look, and acknowledged that I liked it, I still couldn’t wrap my head around mint green and pale orange? I mean, it totally works, but I just didn’t get it. LOL. And when I laid out my coral skirt and mint blouse on the bed, I was still skeptical. It wasn’t until I had the clothes on my body, that I was able to see how cute the color combination really was. (and here again I am reminded of how frustrated I am that YOU can’t see the color of the shirt in these damn pictures. Sorry!)
Oh, and I wish I didn’t have boobs so I could do the whole unbuttoned blouse thing without looking totally scandalous. LOL! #thatisall
Have you worn any color combinations lately that were totally out of the box for you?

I just have to say, I heart you mega time. I just found your blog a couple days ago and I've been reading through the archives, loving every minute of it. This morning it was so easy to get dressed because I have so many ideas thanks to the things you've put together on this blog. You also reminded me that inspiration doesn't have to be so literal, making things even easier! So thanks for being awesome and making me feel like my shoe collection is a normal thing
Love the colors together, I would never have thought of wearing these colors together either!
