Okay, so who watched Love and Hop Hop?? If you watched the show, you already know how LAID Olivia’s hair always is…I mean LAID, y’all!!! Well, that fabulous and always perfect hair comes courtesy of celebrity hair stylist Gabrielle Corney, whom I had the pleasure of meeting at the Hair and Hip Hop Event I attended at GlamBar last week. Gabi is sooooo talented, and she really is just a wealth of information when it comes to hair! Clearly, she will have you walking out of the salon looking fly like Olivia, but she focuses just as much on the health of your hair and scalp and she does on your style. She is actually working towards becoming a licensed trichologist! Just to give you an idea of her special talent, those golden blonde streaks in Olivia’s hair were achieved with no bleaching whatsoever…that’s why Olivia’s hair looks so healthy! So, yes, she really knows her stuff! I was able to sit down and pick Gabi’s brain about some of her favorite products, but I’ll have to do a separate post on that (and tell you about the Indique clip-in extensions I won at the event!)
So, the best and most important thing I have to share with you guys about Gabi is that she is bringing her talents right her to the A!!!! Yaaaaaaay!!! New York has been hogging her for way too long! (Sorry, Danielle!) Now, I’ll be honest and say I haven’t paid to get my hair done regularly by a stylist in years. Besides trimming, I have almost always done my hair myself. But, you all know I’ve been going through some changes on my healthy hair journey, and I would love to get Gabi’s talented hands on my mane every six weeks or so when she comes to Atlanta. Honestly, as much as I hate to admit it, I probably could use some professional care every once in a while. (My shoe budget won’t like it one bit!)
Gabi with an issue of Juicy Magazine from our swag bags.
My good friends Danielle and Lexi hosted our little soiree! Here they are with Gabi and K. Michelle of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta! K. Michelle also spoke at the event, and now I am really excited to see what Love and Hip Hop Atlanta has in store for us! After hearing K. Michelle speak about life, being an artist, and the show, we all agreed that she is already our favorite. Lol! She was fuuuuunny, and someone convinced her to sing right there on the spot…and honey child can sang!
Celebrity hair stylist Liz Owusu was also in the house and oh-em-gee, y’all know I wanted to snatch those peachy pleated palazzo pants right off her body right? SO CUTE!! and I am pretty sure she had the shiniest, bounciest hair ever!
…and I have to give Diamonde Williams a big shout out! She was the photographer for the night. Some of the photos in this post were taken by her, and she actually covers a lot of local blogger events. If you’re in Atlanta, check her out! She is a real sweetheart…and isn’t she beautiful? She is on the left, and with her is Atlanta newcomer Dominique! We welcomed her to the A right and kept her out until 2 am!! You’re officially a peach now, Dominique!
…and I must talk about the food! They really pulled out all the stops, y’all! “Chef to The Stars” Jay Williams was in the house, and he prepared the yummiest bruschetta and the plumpest, tastiest, shrimp ever! And we washed it all down with Leinenkugel’s Berry Weiss…a beer for the non-beer drinker! It’s nice and sweet…more like a cider than a beer.
We also got a couple products in our swag bag, one of which was this Beautiful Curls Curl Activating Cream. I always love trying new products, so I’ll let you guys know how I like it.
I obviously had a great time, and I can’t wait to try my Indique extensions. I’ve never been much of a weave girl, because I just don’t like the way it feels on my scalp. LOL! the clip-in option might actually be doable for me on those nights where I want to add a little extra glam to my look! So, I am straightening my hair this weekend, and I am going to do my best to do a video if I can get this webcam to act right…but I’ll at least take pictures and post about the experience next week! I’ll also include my interview with Gabi in that post, so make sure you look out for it!
