Black & Chambray
Happy Wednesday!! So, I’m sure all of you who are bloggers will feel me on this…as a blogger, I often have days where I feel “uninspired,” but yesterday it dawned on me, that maybe a lack of inspiration isn’t the problem. Perhaps the problem is a blog induced compulsion to always wear an outfit that makes a statement, instead of allowing myself to just keep it simple sometimes. The thing is, we style bloggers never want our readers to get bored, so we obsess about making every outfit special (btw, forcing it like this can totally lead to those disastrous I’m-trying-too-hard- outfits…trust me, I know. Lol!) Anyway, I guess that is just not realistic, right? Everybody wears jeans and a t-shirt sometimes…and I actually think simple outfits are really cute, so I am going to work on not forcing it when that’s all I’m in the mood for. (Though I am in the mood for kick-a** heels 98% of the time!) I know you guys remember my “nothing special” posts…well, ironically, those are some of your favorite posts…so clearly this pressure to wear something special every day is self-inflicted. Lol!
Ellison Cropped Denim Shirt via Shock Boutique Last Year (available here, $36 or similar here, $49) | Random Black Trousers (similar) | ShoeDazzle “Elizabeth” ($40) | The Sack Bag via TJ Maxx (similar) | Necklace via Peppermint Chic (old, similar) | Lips: Revlon Lip Butter in Cherry Tart
Yesterday, I tried a combination of bright blouses, printed pants, and bold blazers before literally saying to myself out loud – “Eboni, its okay to just wear something simple…you’re not going anywhere today…you’re tired, and you’re just not feeling it. Keep it simple.” So, here I am in a pair of black skinny trousers, a black cami, and a cropped chambray top….and a pair of kick-a** black pumps, of course!
I loooooove these shoes! Some of my buddies on Facebook and Twitter recognized them from ShoeDazzle…that’s right, ShoeDazzle. I was kinda shocked when I found them there. I’ve been a member of ShoeDazzle for a looooooong time but I never actually bought anything…until now. These me so much of those asymmetrical pumps from Zara that I feel like everyone has but me…so I jumped on them in both black and neon yellow. Unfortunately, the yellow had to go back because it was too small (strange considering I got them both in the same size). I am hoping and praying that a size 8 is still available when my account gets credited for my return. Anyway, the style is “Elizabeth,” if you’re interested, but please save a size 8 in the yellow for me! Lol!
p.s. ugh!! I have a spot on my lens again…seriously, what is that? I swear I cleaned it before I walked out the door! grr.
p.p.s. I am so thrilled to announce that I’ve joined the team over at The Style & Beauty Doctor as a fashion contributor! Check out my first post here.
Have a great day!!! XOXO.

I totally feel you on that! We can't always come up with a super awesome outfit every single time and sometimes simple is best! I like the paring of that light colored jacket with an all black outfit. Something unexpected but totally chic at the same time.

I really like how your black pants/cami really allow the jacket (SO cute!) to shine. Complex, layer-upon-layered and perfectly accessorized outfits are cool, but I think sometimes the chicest thing in the world is a simple look worn with confidence.

Love the jacket and congrats!!!
I totally hear you Ife. Really. It is so hard as a blogger to just let go of the not so specialness of an outfit sometimes and just go with it–even if you don't blog it! I personally love seeing the casual outfits just as much as the dressy ones on blogs. You look great and those are indeed some KICK ASS HEELS girl!

Great outfit. While I enjoy fashion, I LOVE style, which I often find lacking on blogs. Maybe it's the medium – fast, casual – but It seems like the desire to be trendy and fashion forward on the internet sometimes outweighs looking ones best.
Preach! Isn't it funny that the simplest outfits are always the best? I think you look like a modern day Audrey Hepburn. And I love it. Congrats on being a fashion contributor for The Style & Beauty Doctor, I heart you both!!
