Trickle Down Fashion: Alexander Wang Fabiana Sandal for Less!
So, do you remember this scene in The Devil Wears Prada wear Miranda goes in on Andy’s cerulean sweater?
LOL!! Definitely, one of my favorites….and I actually think of it quite often whenever I “fish” something awesome out of a “clearance bin” of a mainstream retailer…though, you will not catch me in a Casual Corner… do they still have those anywhere? The “trickle down” fashion phenomenon is quite fascinating…especially since the trickle down happens faster and faster these days. Since I’ve been blogging, I am even more aware of it because I pay much closer attention to the sources of various trends. Silver shoes are definitely having a moment right now. The trend first caught my eye last fall when I spotted Alexander Wang’s Fabiana sandals on the happy feet of some of my fave celebs and bloggers. I. Loved. These. Shoes….but, needless to say, $495 for a single pair of shoes was not going to happen.

Well, fast forward a full season, and I happily fished this cute look for less out of the cyber-clearance bin for only $15 on Alloy.com. <insert wide cheesy smile here!>

Obviously, there are a few differences here…the Davina has a platform and a thicker strap across the toe…and of course, the Wang’s have that cape-like thing covering the heel…but I think for $15, these will do just fine for giving me the minimalist metallic look I’m looking for. What do you think?
