Style Me Friday: Inspired by Alexa Chung’s Denim Dress
Happy Friday! I am so happy to have Style Me Friday post for you guys. I was kinda sad that we missed them for a few weeks. I know you guys are tired of hearing me lament about the heat, but it seriously does limit your fashion options. As I was driving home yesterday, I noticed the leaves had begun to turn shades of yellow and brown, and fall from the trees, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Autumn is on the horizon! Thank goodness! If you submitted something this summer that I was not able to rock yet, look out for it in the fall!
Anyway, this Alexa Chung look was actually submitted back in May by my buddy Whitney over at Nic’s Picks. At the time, I didn’t have a denim dress to recreate the look, and I actually contemplated doing a denim pencil skirt + chambray shirt spin on it, but it never came together. Well, fast forward to a few weeks ago, I caught this dress on sale at Zara and I scooped it up! I loved the drawstring waist and the front zipper. So, yesterday, as I was scrolling through my Style Me Friday submissions folder, I came across the look and got super excited…I had forgotten all about it, and now I had the perfect dress to pull it off.
Zara Dress (similar here $25, here $20, and here $75) | Zara Shoes | Vintage Bag | Jewelmint Sugar Pop Earrings ($30)
Now, if you look close, you may notice that my dress is actually not denim…it’s linen! But it has a wash and hand that totally gives the look and feel of denim…only it’s much cooler and lighter…and perfect for the heat. I got as close as I could to Alexa’s taupe snakeskin pumps with my own mustard snakeskin pumps (also from Zara!). I actually prefer a little color, so that worked well. I was also able to capture the style of Alexa’s bag with the vintage bag my grandma passed down to me. And, to complete the look, I added my Jewelmint Sugar Pop Earrings. All in all, I really loved the final look! So, thanks for the submission, Whitney!
Have a great weekend!! xoxo.
