Merry Christmas, Eve!!! I hope you are enjoying special times with family and friends! I am taking a mini-vacay from blogging today and tomorrow, but I wanted to pop in and share my recap from my first Shop the Aisle last weekend — it was a blast! It was a special edition of Shop the Aisle — bloggers, 3 Walmart locations and aisles full off beautiful kinks, curls, and coils.
I love each and every one of these bloggers, and I was honored to hang out with them for the day. Not only are they full of laughs, but I also learned so much about all the product lines we were sharing with shoppers from each of them. We all have different hair types, and styling preferences….like Miss Arkeedah prefers to style her natural hair dry, so she blows it out, and does a dry twist out on her kinky mane — I love it! I learned that Trina, Kela, and Danielle all love glycerin in their styling products because it helps their hair retain moisture and shine. Here are some of our favorite products from each of the natural hair product lines as we were sharing at Shop the Aisle!
CurlMax Curl Activator Moisturizer – Do not be fooled by the name. This is not jheri curl juice! Lol. It’s actually realy great for natural girls with dry hair because this product has glycerin in it. This was a favorite of Danielle, Trina, and Kela!
Eden Bodyworks Peppermint Tea Tree Shampoo & Conditioner – A heavy favorite among all the girls. The peppermint and tea tree sooth dry, itchy scalp and alleviate dandruff.
UR Curly Soya Shampoo – One of my favorites! This shampoo is very thick and moisturizing. It also has tea tree oil, so it will also help with itchy scalp and dandruff. (I also like the Loose Curl Enhancer from this product line. It works very well for my loose curl pattern because it has a light gel consistency that provides hold, but no crunch!)
Shea Moisture Curling Soufflé – This product was a favorite of mine and Danielle! The best way to describe it is one part gel and one part moisturizer. The thing to remember about this product is a little goes a loooong way. If you use too much, your hair will be sticky and oily! But, if you use just the right amount, your hair will be moisturized and defined for days. What I thought was really cool was that Danielle and I have completely different hair types, but we both loved this product… that’s saying something!
Curls Unleashed Curl Refresher – This is another favorite of mine. It has a loose watery gel consistency, and for my hair type it is perfect for taming frizzy 3rd, 4th, and 5th day hair. Lol! I can use it without water, which is great on the run.
4Naturals Slick It Pomade and Irontastic Thermal Protection Spray – Trina swears by these products! She is a natural girl who likes to wear her hair straight a lot, so the slick it pomade is perfect for keeping those edges laid, and the Irontastic spray works double time as a thermal protection spray and styling products. Trina kept bragging all day about how that was all she used on her fly swooped bangs! She sold me! Lol.
Curls – Last but not least, Curls! This product line wasn’t in Walmart just yet, but it is coming soon so look out for it! All Shop the Aisle attendees received a swag bag with a jar of Curlz pomade. This stuff smells all kinds of amazing! I can’t wait to try it. I don’t usually use pomade on my curly hair, but it is a must have for straight hair. Gotta keep those edges laid, or else I’ll be tempted to break out that pressing comb, and that would be no good. Lol!
So, I think the coolest thing about all these products is that they can be found at Walmart and they are super affordable for any budget. Personally, I wash my hair once or twice a week and I go through conditioner like nobody’s business (not to mention Fab likes to dip into my products, too!), so it is very important for me to have affordable products that I love.
Many thanks to all those who came out! It was a fabulous time, and it is always good to meet you all in person. If you walked out with some of the products we recommended, we’d LOVE to hear how they worked out for you! Leave a comment and let us know!
