Ask me where I went today? NOWHERE! Just felt like slipping on these boots and being sassy. Lol!! So far, it’s been a very mild winter in Georgia, and I’m starting to think I won’t get an opportunity to rock all my winter faves (like these boots!) before the season ends. It’s raining today, but it’s also supposed to be 72 degrees…72 DEGREES! Lol. I’m a Cali girl, so honestly, I’m used to 70 degrees in December, but one of the perks of moving to Atlanta was supposed to be winter clothes. Lol. Oh well! But, I digress. I bought these boots about three years ago at Aldo, and I believe they were $100 during the height of the OTK boot trend. I thought I’d wear them all the time, but honestly, I’ve worn them probably a total of five times since I bought them. They are actually tougher than I thought to style without looking too sexy…I mean considering I don’t really go “out” like that anymore. Generally, I don’t succumb to social constructions of propriety. I wear what I want, when I what, and where I want. And, I don’t mind a little shock value from time to time. But, I have to admit I feel like I am doing THEE most when I wear these boots sometimes. Over-the-knee boots are one thing, but THIGH-HIGH boots are something else entirely. Things can go Pretty Woman very quickly once you get into the thigh-high category…still, I love them!
Obviously, the trick to pulling them off is the styling. They are shocking and unexpected with this combination of a chunky sweater and pleated skirt, but the rest of the outfit is so non-sexy that they tone down the boots and make them work. And, I think that is the key with these boots, you just have to pair them with things that are not overtly sexy on their own — oversized knits, tailored separates, feminine frocks are perfect. Let the boots add the sexy element and you’re golden!
In other news, check out this super cute bracelet my friends at Swarovksi sent me! I wish you could see the sparkle, but my photography skills are wack! The bracelet is sitting on my desk as we speak, and it’s just a sparkin’. I love it!
Swarovksi has been working with bloggers to promote their new Swarovksi Elements iPad Magazine. Now, I don’t have an iPad…yet! But, I am hoping Santa is reading this. hehehe! Anyway, if you do have an iPad, you should check it out. It looks pretty cool!
