Happy New Year!!! (I Can’t Believe Fab Chose This Dress + JustFab is having a BOGO jewelry sale!)

Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone had a FABULOUS time bringing in the new year with friends and loved ones.  Fab and I went to Detroit to hang with his sister and her husband.  It was our first time visiting them since they got married the summer before last….definitely way over due!  They hosted a NYE soiree in their newly remodeled super hero themed basement.   Think Thor meets Hulk Meets Spiked Cider.  Needless to say, we had a fab time!

Anyway, I just wanted to stop in really quickly and show you all my dress in case you missed it on Instagram and Facebook.

So, this dress…where do I start?  First of all, I totally stepped way out of my lane when I bought the dress. I have always loved dresses with waist cutouts…seriously, ever since Toni Braxton wore that white dress with the waist cutout in that one video back when I was in high school (what video was that?).  Or, maybe it was Lela Rochon’s white cutouts in Waiting to Exhale?  Either way, I love them.  Unfortunately, they look kinda horrible on me because usually the placement of the cutouts is all wrong for my SUPER high waist.  The key to waist cutouts is placement at the smallest part of your waist.  All of the dresses (and swimsuits) I’ve tried on in the past had cutouts that hit below the smallest part of my waist, which is probably where normal waists are, and the result is something like Spongebob Square Pants. Lol!  After many failed attempts, you’d like I’d give up on waist cutouts, but nope! I just keep trying them. Lol.  So, when I saw this dress on ASOS on sale for only $27, I couldn’t resist.  After all, they have free shipping both ways, so there was nothing to lose, right? I received the dress and tried it on bracing myself for disappointment…and wouldn’t you know! It totally worked.  Or, at least I thought it did, but you know Fab is the ultimate test (he’s brutally honest!).  So, I tip-toed out of the bathroom and he said “those holes actually work well on you.”

Say what, huh?! GO FIGURE!!

Oh, but it doesn’t end there.  When I held up three dresses, and asked Fab to choose one for me to wear on NYE, he said, “the red one with the cutouts.”

GASP.

So finally, with Fab’s stamp of approval, my search for the perfect cutout dress has come to an end.   If this isn’t a sign of things to come in 2013, I don’t know what is! Lol!
