5 Color Combos for your Spring Wardrobe from Redbook!

Hello, my friends! I know, I know…where the heck have I been? Well, you know how moving can be.  When I’m done unpacking for the day, all I wanna do is sit still…and I went back to work last Thursday, so it’s working all day, and unpacking at night.  The good news is my clothes and shoes are mostly unpacked. I just have to figured out what to do with the last 50 or so pairs of shoes that are not in boxes…and my jeans, which take up too much hanging space, and don’t fit in drawers…but you know how it is when you stack them on a shelf in the closet…they all come tumbling down! So, I’m thinking about getting an Expedit shelf from Ikea to store them.  I think the little cubbies will be perfect for keeping the jeans organized by color…and keeping them off the floor.  I’ll keep you posted.

Anyway, I just wanted to stop in really quick to share some spring inspiration from Redbook! If you haven’t checked this glossy out lately, it’s worth taking a look.  I’m a new subscriber, and I am really enjoying the content…so much so, that I actually repurchased the March issue on my iPad because I purged All 999 of my print glossies when I moved, and I really wanted to have my Redbook!  So, if I continue enjoying the subscription this much, I’ll definitely be renewing for another year on my iPad (I’m switching to all digital subscriptions!).

Anyway, like I was saying, I thought I’d share some spring color pairing inspiration.  I know how much we all got out of see the Neutral Know-How color pairings in InStyle last spring.  I love wearing color, but I fall into a color rut just like anyone else from time to time.  It’s always helpful to have inspirational images like the ones below on hand in a crunch…just to remind you that your closet has infinite possibilities for fabulous-ness!  (There were actually a few more pairings, but these were my faves…check out the March issue of Redbook to see the others).

If you went oxblood (bordeaux, wine, burgundy…or whatever you want to call it) crazy this fall, don’t worry, you can still make the trendy hue work for spring and summer. Pair it with bright orange and tan in light weight fabrics and silhouettes!

This combination was my fave! Naturally, since green is my all time favorite color, and I don’t wear it nearly enough! Not to mention, Pantone named emerald the color of the year…which, naturally means all shades of green are in, in, in!

Navy blue and red are good friends already, but I love the idea of adding a splash of lavender to lighten things up for springs.  It’s also a good way to ease your way into the pastel craze, if you tend prefer bold colors. (like me!)  I’m definitely going to be trying this one!

Mint was every fashion girl’s favorite pastel shade last spring, and this spring it’s sticking around for more fun.  I love it paired with coral! You may recall my take on the color combination below…it was my Style Me Friday take on a look from DVF’s Spring ’12 collection.

Nothing says springtime like sunny yellow! I don’t know why I don’t wear this color more often. It’s so pretty, and you can’t help but feel good when you’re wearing it.  I love the idea of pairing bright lemony yellow with cool neutral gray for spring.  I also love that the folks at Redbook finished the look with a pair of black sandals…keep this trick in mind when you’re wearing softer color palette…it really keeps the look from being too Easter Sunday! (unless you’re going for that…which is totally fine! Lol)

My fave is the navy, red, and lavender; it's so unexpected. I'm kind of surprised these images came from Redbook…I might need to reassess my opinion about that magazine. Also, I have two Ikea Expedits, and they are worth their weight in gold! So versatile, and once assembled, I think the quality is the same as similar units that cost a lot more.
