Can you believe this dress was only $5!! That’s right…FIVE DOLLARS! I bought it on clearance at H&M…all clearance items were an additional 50% off the lowest marked price, and the dress was already marked down to $10. Boom! MAJOR. SCORE. I obviously couldn’t leave it behind. I love the print! The color palette and large scale flowers are gaudy…even borderline tacky, but in the best kinda way. Lol. Does that make any sense at all?

I was a little bit concerned about the dress’ shift silhouette (we just talked about shifts!), but I was pleasantly surprised at how the dressed looked once I got it on. I think the combination of the fabric, print placement, and length made this particular shift work for my body. And, this is just another example of why you should never make assumptions about what will and won’t work for you…TRY STUFF ON! You might surprise yourself.
When I tried the dress on, I knew immediately that I wanted to wear it with red shoes! I could obviously do black, or nude…but something about the gaudy print was begging for red shoes. I picked up these ankle strap kitten heel pumps at Zara during their end-of-season sale for only $15. Apparently, I’m having a moment with low heels. Interestingly enough, I downloaded the Spring 2013 Elle Accessories issue on my iPad during my flight to LA, and there was an entire article about the return of mid and low…and even kitten heels thanks to luxury brands like Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton. I tried to tell Adrienne and Trina last year that kitten heels were making a comeback, and they didn’t believe me. They definitely aren’t for everyone, but since our fave luxury brands have deemed lower heels “in,” we can expect to see more and more stylish, and affordable version of low heels (like these from Zara) available in the marketplace.
So, there you have it…how to look stylish in a $5 dress and kitten heels. Lol!
