If You Could Only Take ONE Pair of Shoes on Vacation, Choose These Sandals!

When I first started dating Fab, we lived on opposite ends of the country, and often times we’d only get to see each other for a couple days at time over the weekend.  Now, usually, I am a HORRIBLE packer. I like to have options, so I always pack way too much! But, for those quick turnaround trips to Florida from LA, I always did my best to pack everything I needed in a carryon.  Besides, who wants to pay an extra $50 to check a bag these days? Not me!   Anyway, after visiting a few times, Fab noticed that I was wearing the SAME shoes over and over a again. Lol! It was summertime, and I had a pair of muted gold thong sandals, and they literally went with EVERYTHING.  I wore them so much that Mr. Funny Man started calling them my “Old Faithfuls.” (side eye.) What he didn’t know was I’d had those sandals for at least 3 years before I met him. Lol! They were my go-to summer sandal…especially for vacation travel.  Sadly, they finally gave out on me shortly after I moved to Atlanta when one of the straps broke…I shed a tear! Lol.

Anyway, when I go on vacation, I really like to keep things no muss, no fuss.  (So, why do I always pack so much crap?)  Comfort and easy style are my number one priority when it comes to shoes.  I need to be able to switch between beach wear to dinner wear at a moment’s notice, and walk long distances with ease…and I don’t want to carry an extra pair of shoes in my bag because who wants to lug around all that extra weight?  So, usually a versatile flat sandal is the way to go.  And, the thing about metallic sandals is they match with everything just like your favorite neutral sandal, BUT they’re just a tad bit jazzier, so you can dress them up or down!  To demonstrate my point, I put together four vacation looks using a great pair of silver/pewter Mossimo thong sandals from Target! (and yes, the outfits are head-to-toe-Target, too. (duh!)

Okay, so if you’ve got room in your bag to squeeze in one more pair of shoes, I’d definitely say go with a wedge.  Most (not all) wedges are almost as comfortable as flats, and so you’ll get that leg boost without the high-heel-induced foot ache…and wedges are just very vacation appropriate in terms of style.
