Happy Friday!! Super excited to be back at it with Style Me Friday after two weeks off! So, I hadn’t planned on going totally casual with my boyfriend jeans. I thought I was going to go the dressed up boyfriend jeans route, but I quickly changed my mind when I looked outside and saw those damn black clouds again, and all I wanted to do was be comfortable. It’s funny because I was outside taking pictures with my tripod, and my neighbor walked by…we said our standard “hi, how are yous” and the first thing she said was “Ugh! I’m just so sick of this weather. It makes you not want to do anything.” Indeed neighbor…indeed.
Anyway, my look was inspired by Blair from Atlantic Pacific, but it needed something….so I grabbed my plaid shirt and tied it around my waist. Voila! Insta-outfit. Throw in a pair of bright royal blue pumps, and I’m golden.
I shared a sneak peek of this outfit on Instagram and a lot of people mentioned how lucky I was to score this Phillip Lim for Target mini tote. Ummm…I don’t know about Lucky. Lol! I definitely woke up at 6:45 am on a Sunday and was #2 in line standing outside Target by 7:30 am…and all I wanted was this bag and the Boom sweatshirt, which I ended up passing on…but, I did get the leopard print skirt and floral print blouse. I have to tell you guys this is the first time I’ve gotten up early to hit up one of these collaboration launches…not just at Target, but at any store. I usually just pass, and try to see what I can find after the madness dies down. But, I had to have one of the Phillip Lim bags!! This style of bag is obviously super trendy, but it’s also a fairly unique designer style in terms of the shape of the bag. I’m no stranger to non-designer bags…in fact, that’s pretty much all I carry, but for this style, I felt like I couldn’t find a look for less that didn’t venture too far off into knockoff territory. With “inspired” bags, there always has to be some distinctive feature that sets it apart from the designer inspiration, and most of the bags I’ve seen replicating this style of bag have just been too spot on. Lol. So basically, the Phillip Lim x Target collab made it possible for me to snag this style of bag at a super affordable price point…and I can carry it proudly!
Seriously, they are one of my more recent JustFab purchases, and they are absolutely perfect. The style is called “Monroe,” and it’s just a simple blue d’orsay ankle strap pump, but the lines and curves of the shoe are gorgeous, and the shape of the heel is just perfect. They really knocked the ball out of the park with this one! I would say that I wish they were real suede, but then I wouldn’t be able to wear them in the rain…so meh…I’m happy with the faux suede…especially when it looks this good!
