Happy Monday!! I hope everybody had a great weekend. I had all these plans to clean and run errands, but I ended up being lazy most of the weekend. I did manage to finish getting unpacked, and trust me when I say that is an accomplishment. I’m known for living out of a suitcase for weeks after a trip. Unpacking is the equivalent of my three most loathed chores rolled into one — laundry, folding clothes, and putting clothes away. And, seriously where were all these clothes before my trip, because they certainly don’t fit in my closet now! (Sigh.)
Anyway, on to more exciting stuff…like this MAC Retro Matte “Flat Out Fabulous” lipstick. It’s the bomb, right? MAC is describing the color as a bright plum matte. It really is a gorgeous color on its own, but I bumped it up even more with one of the Pro Longwear Lip Pencils from the collection in “Fashion Boost.”
I really love a good matte finish on a lipstick, but of course, they can be a bit drying. Flat Out Fabulous actually wasn’t too bad. Ruby Woo leaves my lips feeling chapped and dehydrated, and even applying it is rough. But, Flat Out Fabulous applied smooth, and my lips were fine after wearing it for about 5 hours…a tiny bit dry, but nothing a single application of lip balm couldn’t remedy. And, on that note, the formula wears really well. It lasted without fading until I ate, but even then it left a nice stain.
As with all MAC limited edition collections, the Retro Matte collection sold out within 24 hours on the MAC website, but you’re in luck! “Flat Out Fabulous” is available at Nordstrom. It is currently on backorder, but is expected to ship on 10/8. If you ask me, it’s totally worth the wait!
The Pro Longwear Lip Pencil is available at Nordstrom, Dillard’s, or Macy’s, and is actually in stock and available to ship right away. You can wear these pencils on their own, which I did here with the color Dynamo. I loved how saturated and opaque the color was, but my goodness, my lips were dry. I’m not sure how often I’ll go the pencil-only route, but I love how these pencils add depth to the lipsticks, and increase the overall wear time.
