We’ve had this discussion countless times here on the blog…making time to work out is just hard. Life is busy, and it seems that there is always something else vying for my gym time. I really have to make going to the gym a priority, and I’ve incorporated a few practices to make sure sure I get there.
1. Keep a gym bag packed with workout clothes, socks, shoes, and water and all your other gym necessities. Keep it by the car…keep it by the door…keep it wherever is most convenient for you. Pushing yourself to go to the gym only gets harder if you don’t have everything ready to go…especially if you’re tired and subconsciously looking for an excuse not to go….like, oh well…I can’t find any socks…I guess I can’t go to the gym. Oh, I’m the only one who does that? Side eye. Lol!!! But seriously, I find that having a gym bag packed at all times is also helpful for unplanned trips to the gym. Got a little extra time on your hands, feel like getting a work out in…just grab your bag and go without having to think about it.
2. Make plans to run errands before or after the gym so you can cross other things off your list while you’re out. My gym is across the street from Publix, so it’s super convenient to hit the gym and knock out my grocery shopping in one outing.
3. And speaking of running errands, I definitely used to be one of those people who wore ratty old sweats and tees to the gym. I didn’t see the point in investing in “expensive” workout clothes. Boy, was I wrong. I didn’t realize that my ratty old clothes were actually hindering me from making the most of my gym outings. I would NEVER run errands in my bleach stained t-shirt and sweats, which means I’d have to go aaaall the way home to get dressed before doing anything else for the day. But, when I have on a cute matching set of tights or yoga pants and a matching top, I’m like “I may be a little sweaty….but I’m still cute! Let’s get this Target run out of the way.” Lol. Who knew making an effort to be cute at the gym could be so efficient? Not to mention, cute workout clothes just make you feel better when you walk by those GIANT gym mirrors!
Side Note: Fab doesn’t get why all my tights have to be bright colors…I told him black and gray workout clothes are so drab! I get a little pep in my step when look down and see my hot pink tights stridin’ on the treadmill. Hey…whatever motivates you, right? Lol
Many thanks to Athleta for this super cute gym ensemble! They graciously gifted me with a gift card to pick up a few pieces at their store in Atlantic Station. I ended up going ham and spending well beyond the gift card. Oops! Lol. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a couple of the other pieces I bought, which included bright blue tights and another long-sleeve zip front top. I’m kinda obsessed with this Mendoza Half-Zip Top…so much so, that bought it in three different colors. How cute are the armholes?! And there is a nifty little zippered pocket in the back for cash, credit cards, and your iPod.
How do you fit in fitness?
