Midi skirts are really having a moment right now…from curve hugging pencil skirts to tea skirts and dresses…calve grazing skirts were seen on the Spring 2014 runways of many of my favorite designers…Rebecca Minkoff, Christian Dior, Tracy Reese, and Burberry, and the list goes on and on. I really “need” the Rebecca Minkoff yellow lace midi skirt in my life, like yesterday…in fact, I’ll take the whole outfit…and a vacation to Mexico!! #Leggo
I’ve collected a few midi skirts over the years, so I didn’t have to go any further than my closet to get in on the trend. I always try to shop my closet first when the season changes, and I started getting that seasonal shopping itch. It’s so easy to forget what you already have…you almost have to pull everything out and take inventory. Fab is not a fan of this process, by the way…picture clothes covering EVERY inch of the room coupled with a whole lot of trying on outfits and posing in front of the mirror…and getting giddy about hidden treasures that you’d forgotten about…and trying to share the excitement with someone who really just doesn’t care that you found that pastel pink lace pencil skirt you bought at H&M two summers ago. Nope, he’s not a fan of this process at all. Lol. But, it has to happen…or I’d be shopping like a maniac. The inventory process is obviously the lesser of two evils…right?
Anyway, I found this skirt folded up in my miscellaneous theres-no-more-room-on-the-closet-rod drawer. (There are some real gems in that drawer!) I bought it ASOS last year, and I only wore it once…shame on me! Since there’s a ton of midi skirt inspiration flooding the internets right now, hopefully I’ll get more wear out of it…
Before I go, can I just give a big shout-out to Forever 21 for this blouse?! This thing was only $12.95, and I bought it in a bunch of different colors a couple years ago, and they are still my go-to spring and summer tops. They’re very reminiscent of the classic Equipment blouse, but at a fraction of the price…I kinda wish I had bought doubles in every color. They’ve got some new colors this spring that I need to go ahead and snatch up like this one in taupe.
Oh, and one more thing…don’t forget to check out my C. Wonder Mother’s Day Gift Guide, and enter to win a $500 C. Wonder Gift Card. The giveaway ends Friday!
What runway trends are you rocking right now?
